Pre-Operational Walkaround Check
- Visually inspect the forklift for leaks, damage, or loose components.
- Check overhead guard, load backrest, and safety labels.
- Verify tires for damage, inflation, and wear.
- Inspect the operator compartment for cleanliness and obstructions.
Battery & Electrical System Inspection
- Verify battery charge level and connection integrity.
- Inspect terminals for corrosion and tighten if needed.
- Test key switch and ignition functionality.
- Check for proper mounting of the battery and safety covers.
Forks, Mast, & Hydraulic System Check
- Inspect forks for cracks, bends, and secure locking.
- Check mast chains for tension and lubrication.
- Test lift, tilt, and side-shift functions under no load.
- Check for hydraulic fluid leaks and proper fluid levels.
Safety & Control Systems Testing
- Test brakes, parking brake, and steering responsiveness.
- Verify horn, lights, alarms, and emergency stop operation.
- Ensure seatbelt or restraint system is functional.
- Check all control levers for smooth operation.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record inspection results in the daily logbook.
- Report any defects or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
- Tag out and remove from service any forklift with critical safety issues.
